<br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL
<br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY
<br />STEVEN TYLER GOULDING
<br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING
<br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and
<br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the
<br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout
<br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and
<br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the
<br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and
<br />WHEREAS, STEVEN TYLER GOULDING has been an active member of Troop 664, and he has participated in
<br />many Scouting activities such as All Scouts Weekend, summer camps at Beaumont, Friedlander, Custaloga Town;
<br />campouts at Laurel Caverns, Buffalo Naval Base, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Avery Hand, Stigwandish, and Butler;
<br />backpacking at Zaleski Sate Forest, Allegheny National Forest; canoeing at Tinnerman Canoe Base and Allegheny; and
<br />STEVEN has held numerous leadership positions including Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, T'wen
<br />Committee for All Scouts Weekend, Assistant and Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, and Honorary Official for All
<br />Scouts Weekend; and
<br />WHEREAS, STEVEN, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award, earned twenty-nine Merit Badges, and he earned the
<br />ArrJW of Light Award and Polar Bear Award; and
<br />WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout Project, STEVEN built adouble-sided coat/cubby and bookshelf for physically
<br />and mentally handicapped children at Chestnut School and also made two miniature shelf cabinets to serve as extra
<br />storage near desks and sinks; with the help of Troop 664 Scouts and Leaders and donations from Sherman Williams,
<br />Gemini Construction Group, the Girl Scouts of America and Kiwanis of North Olmsted STEVEN'S project to benefit the
<br />children of Chestnut School was a huge success; and
<br />WHEREAS, STEVEN, while an active Scout, also participated in school and community activities including
<br />serving as a tutor, guitar instructor, band mate, stage performance coach for North Olmsted High School, S. W. C. Idol
<br />competitor and winner, he is an active member of his church where he volunteers in activities, and he is a Red Cross
<br />blood donor; and
<br />WHEREAS, in addition to participating in Scouting, school, and community activities, STEVEN is a musician
<br />who plays guitar and piano and sings and is a member of the Every Last Breath band; he is an artist who paints in
<br />different medias and sculpture; and
<br />WHEREAS, STEVEN was graduated from North Olmsted High School on June 7, 2009 and plans to attend
<br />Wright State University where he will major in Education and minor in Music; and
<br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by STEVEN TYLER GOULDING is a noteworthy
<br />accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED,
<br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:
<br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to
<br />STEVEN TYLER GOULDING on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
<br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution `~o
