<br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIlZE CITY COUNCIL
<br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY
<br />PETER MATTHEW HEINZMAN
<br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING
<br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and
<br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the
<br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout
<br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and
<br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the
<br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and
<br />WHEREAS, PETER MATTHEW HEINZMAN has been an active member of Troop 664, and he has particip~~ yid
<br />in many Scouting activities such as weekend and summer camps at North Olmsted All Scouts Weekend, Custaloga Town,
<br />Beaumont and Camp Friedlander, and campouts at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Gettysburg, Firelands, Camp Avery
<br />Hand, Kelly's Island, Allegheny National Forest, and Allegheny and Tinnerman canoe trips; and PETER has bald
<br />leadership positions including Senior Patrol Leader, Cub Scout Day Camp Leader, and five years as Den Chief and Field
<br />Si,.,rts Assistant, and he has been an Honorary Scout Official for All Scouts Weekend; and
<br />WHEREAS, PETER, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award, earned thirty-four Merit Badges, and he earned the
<br />Arrow of Light Award; and
<br />WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout Project, PETER painted a scale map of the United States and two hopscotch
<br />games and two foursquare courts in the Forest Elementary School parking lot, which will serve as a teaching and learning
<br />aid for the teachers and children and provide educational and fun activities for the children; and
<br />WHEREAS, PETER, while an active Scout, also participated in school and community activities including
<br />serving as the Drum Major for the North Olmsted High School Marching Band this past year, as a Section Leader, as a
<br />member of the North Olmsted High School Concert Band, Captain of the North Olmsted High School Swim Team, and as
<br />Red Cross certified lifeguard and certified swim instructor; PETER is a member of St. Clarence Church where he ta.~s
<br />been an altar server for five years; and
<br />WHEREAS, PETER was graduated from North Olmsted High School on June 7, 2009 and has enlisted in she
<br />United States Navy to serve for six years, and he will leave for Boot Camp early in September 2009; and, after Boot
<br />C,.,np, he will be stationed in Goose Creek, SC at the Navy Nuclear Propulsion School; and
<br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by PETER MATTHEW HEINZMAN is a
<br />noteworthy accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED,
<br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:
<br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to
<br />PETER MATTHEW HEINZMAN on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout.
<br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to
<br />PETER MATTHEW HEINZMAN.
