<br />""""~ <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009 - 75 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING TO <br />MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDS <br />THROUGH THE AMERICAN RECO VER Y AND REINVESTMENT A CT OF <br />2009 FOR RECONSTRUCTING A PORTION OF COUNTRY CLUB <br />BOULEVARD NEAR GREAT NORTHERN MALL; AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT IF A WARDED; AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has <br />awarded Cuyahoga County additional Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funding <br />from federal dollars available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act; and <br />WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County proposes to make these funds available to its Urban <br />County communities through a competitive application process in which cities may apply for <br />grants of up to $500,000 for major infrastructure projects; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Planning that the City apply for <br />such a grant to reconstruct a portion of County Club Boulevard near Great Northern Mall; and <br />WHEREAS, there is no local matching funds requirement for said grant; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Planning to make application for said additional CDBG funding for the said major infrastructure <br />project in North Olmsted, and to authorize the Mayor to accept the additional CDBG funding for <br />the City if awarded; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED B Y THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council authorizes the Director of Planning, on behalf of the <br />City of North Olmsted, to apply for an additional Community Development Block Grant of up to <br />$500,000.00 made available to Urban County communities in Cuyahoga County from funding <br />under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, for the purpose of reconstructing <br />of a portion of Country Club Boulevard near Great Northern Mall; and further authorizes the <br />Mayor to accept the grant and execute a contract and any and all other necessary papers, if a <br />grant awarded. <br />
