_ ..~ .. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2009-66 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />STEPHANIE LINDEN <br />OF THE GOLD AWARD IN GIRL SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting and the <br />Girl Scout Promise and Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that she earns the <br />Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, STEPHANIE LINDEN, an active member of Troop 713, has participated in numerous Scouting <br />activities including badge work, camping and service projects; and she earned her Silver Award at the completion of <br />eighth grade by participating in a service project with Ronald McDonald House; and <br />WHEREAS, STEPHANIE earned her Gold Award in February of 2009; for her Gold Project, STEPHANIE built <br />a storage shed for the North Olmsted Recreation Department at North Olmsted Park for use by volleyball teams; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to her other Girl Scout activities, STEPHANIE, participated in a leadership role in the <br />World Friendship Fair for her Service Unit one year and the food area for two years; she was a member of the Teen <br />Committee for All Scouts weekend for four years; and she has been an Honorary Scout Official for four years; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to her Scouting activities STEPHANIE has been a member of the Westlake Christian <br />Church Youth Group for many years; and she is currently beginning a volunteer project to be a counselor with the church <br />summer camp program; and <br />WHEREAS, after graduation from North Olmsted High School, STEPHANIE, plans to attend Lorain County <br />Community College and hopes to use her education and abilities in service to her country by joining Teach for America <br />and teaching in underprivileged schools; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Gold Award by STEPHANIE LINDEN is a noteworthy accomplishment <br />deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTFD, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />STEPHANIE LINDEN on her achievement of the Gold Award in Girl Scouting. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />STEPHANIE LINDEN. <br />Passed: +r ~G~(,i.` G~~ ~d <br />Att ~j <br />arbara L.
