. <br />.~~. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2009 - 62 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 165.04 ("DUTIES ") OF <br />CHAPTER 165 ("LANDMARKS COMMISSION") OF THE <br />ADMINISTRATIVE CODE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE AUTHORITY TO THE <br />CITY LANDMARKS COMMISSION TO REVIEW AND RETAIN IN THE <br />CITY'S ARCHIVES RECORDS OF HISTORICAL INTEREST OR VALUE <br />THAT HA VE BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE CITY RECORDS COMMISSION <br />AND/OR THE OHIO HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR DISPOSAL. <br />WHEREAS, Section 165.04 of the Administrative Code provides for the City Landmarks <br />Commission to "maintain archives for City records and other historical documents;" and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Records Commission that, in order to <br />better protect records of local historical interest or value, Section 165.04 of the Administrative <br />Code be amended provide authority to the City Landmarks Commission to review and retain in <br />the City Archives records submitted to the City Records Commission and/or the Ohio Historical <br />Society for disposal that have local historical interest or value; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, acting upon the recommendation of the City <br />Records Commission, to amend said Section 165.04 accordingly; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 165.04 ("Duties") of Chapter 165 ("Landmarks <br />Commission") of the Administrative Code, which presently reads as follows: <br />165.04 DUTIES. <br />In addition to other duties specified elsewhere in this chapter, the Landmarks <br />Commission shall have the following responsibilities and duties: <br />(a) The Commission shall conduct a continuing survey of all sites, buildings, <br />structures, works of art or similar objects in the City that are culturally, <br />socially, economically, politically, architecturally, educationally or historically <br />significant. <br />(b) The Commission shall work for the continuing education of the citizens of the <br />City with respect to historical and architectural heritage of the City and the <br />landmarks designated under the provisions of this chapter. It shall publish and <br />keep current a register of all landmarks. <br />(c) The Commission shall be authorized by Council to accept the services on a <br />permanent or part-time basis, of technical experts or such other persons that <br />may be required from time to time. <br />(d) The Commission shall maintain archives for City records and other <br />historical documents. <br />
