,_.. ._ ._~.,..~.,,.,.,-.,..W, <br />,..~. .~ _... ~..._ .,w_ ~..... -- ~: ~ __.._~.~ ~ r_ w.,. ~ ~.._ <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2009 - 61 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO APPLY FOR UP <br />TO $17,400 FROM THE BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF PURCHASING BULLET PROOF VESTS FOR POLICE OFFICERS, <br />AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF <br />AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE RECEIPT OF THE GRANT, AND DECLARING ANEMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Bullet Proof Vest Partnership (FY <br />2009/2010 BVP) assists local law enforcement agencies with the purchase of bullet proof vests for <br />eligible members of the safety forces; and <br />WHEREAS, the BJA may allocate up to $17,400 for FY 2009/2010 BVP in funding for the City <br />of North Olmsted to make qualified vest purchases; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Chief of Police by and he hereby is authorized to apply for up to <br />$17,400.00 in funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Bullet Proof Vest Partnership (FY <br />2009/2010 BVP) for the purpose of purchasing bullet proof vests for police officers of the City of North <br />Olmsted, Ohio. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized, on behalf of the City of North <br />Olmsted, to accept the said grant, if awarded, and to execute all documents necessary to effectuate <br />receipt of the grant. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately <br />necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further for the reason that it is <br />necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to the application deadline being June 24, <br />2009; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it <br />shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />t, _ <br />PASSED: f LI- ~ D First Reading: _~ ~ d a <br />Second Readin~• <br />Third Reading: <br />Committee: <br />ATTE~• <br />~~ ~~ ~~ <br />BARBARA L.
