~, CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2009 - 57 BY: Mayor O'Grady A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS BUSINESSES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING AND PLACING A MONUMENT AT VETERANS PLAZA AT NORTH OLMSTED PARK, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the VFW North Olmsted Post 7647, Chambers Funeral Home, and Boss Concrete, Inc. wish to donate funds to the City of North Olmsted for the purpose of purchasing and placing a monument in Veterans Plaza at the North Olmsted Park; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mayor to also use proceeds from the Mayor's Charity Ball toward the said purchase and placement of a monument in Veterans Plaza; and WHEREAS, said donations which total in excess of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) may not, pursuant to Section 131.02 of the Administrative Code, be accepted by the Mayor without specific authorization from City Council; and WHEREAS, this Council desires to authorize the Mayor to accept the said donations and further to enter into a contract with Milano Monuments for the purposes a monument for Veterans Plaza in North Olmsted Park; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. SECTION 1: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to accept donations from the VFW North Olmsted Post 7647, Chambers Funeral Home, and Boss Concrete Inc. for the purchase and placement of a monument in Veterans Plaza at North Olmsted Park; to use proceeds from the Mayor's Charity Ball toward said purchase; and to enter into a contract with Milano Monuments for the purchase and placement of said monument. SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare, of this City and for the further reason that this Ordinance is required to be immediately effective in c~der that it may be purchased and placed in Veterans Plaza at North Olmsted Park in time for this year's Memorial Day events at the Park; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
