<br />A RESOL UTION COMMENDING THE PUBLIC
<br />SERVICE OF JANET A. SARINGEA PRESIDENT
<br />OF COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF NORTH
<br />OLMSTED.

<br />WHEREAS, Janet A. Saringer, has served the City of North Olmsted in a variety of eleded public offues
<br />for a total of thirty years, concluding herpublic service this year as President ojNorth O/msted City Council; and
<br />WHEREAS, Janet A. Saringer was first eleded to offzce in North Olmsted as the Ward II Councilperson
<br />in 1971, and thereafter served the residents of Ward II with commitment and devotion from 1972 to 1983; and
<br />WHEREAS, after demonstrating her ability to be an effective voice for the residents of Ward II for 12
<br />years, Janet A. Saringer was elected to a Council-ut-Large seat in 1983, and thereafter served the entire North
<br />Olmsted community as a Councilperson-at-Large from 1984 to 1986, and later from 1990 to 1997; and
<br />WHEREAS, subsequently, in recognition ojher years of [eadership on the floor of City Councd, Janet
<br />A. Saringer was eleded by the people and served two terms of oJfice as the President of North Olmsted Cily
<br />Council, from 1986 to 1989, and from 1998 to 2001; and
<br />WHEREAS, as a member of Council, Janet A. Saringer successfully sponsored many important pieces
<br />of cily legislation over the years, including the eonsumer-oriented ordinances which require gas stations in North
<br />Olmsted to publicly post gasoline prices and provide jree cdr for tires, and the health and safety ordinances of tlte
<br />City which severely regula2e massage parlors and stores which attempt to sell drug paraphernalia; and
<br />WHEREAS, despite becoming a widow at a young age? raising five children, and being a devoted
<br />grandmother to 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Janet has always somehow found the time and
<br />energy to additYonally give to her community in ways above and beyond being a member of City Council She has
<br />been actively involved over the years in the following organizations: the Police and Flre Rdirees of Ohio, Inc.,
<br />the & Augustine Academy Alumnae Associakon, the Greater Cleveland Suburban Council Association, the
<br />Stoneybrook Women's Club, the North Olmsted Communily Council, the North Olmsted Democrat Club, the
<br />West Side Irish American Club, and St Bernadette's Church; and
<br />WHEREAS, throughout all the challenges she has faced in her life, and the obstacles which sometimes
<br />have been placed inexplicably in her path in life, Janet has always mairttained a strong faith in the goodness of
<br />life and of people, an acceptance of those things which she knows are beyond her contro4 and the undying spirit
<br />and energy to continually find new ways to live life to its fullest and its best just ask anyone who has ever
<br />witnessed .Tanet eagerly approaching a dance floor; and
<br />WHEREAS, .7anet's community spirit, her commitment to the public good, and her political wisdom will
<br />be sorely missed by all of the members of this Council;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH
<br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:
<br />SECTION 1: That the Counczl of the City of North Olmsted personally and collectively, and on behalf of
<br />the Mayor and Administration and all the residents of the City, honors the pub[ic service oJlanet A. Saringer,
<br />and eidends its debt ojgratitKde to her jor her thirty (30) years of public service to the City of North OlmsteA
<br />first, as a Ward Councilperson, then as a Councilperson at Large, an4 finally, as President of City CounciL
<br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution be spread in full upon the records oJthis Council and that the Clerk
<br />of Council is hereby directed to forward a duly authenticated and executed copy oJthis Resolution to Ianet A.
<br />Saringer.
<br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in eJfect from and aJter the earliest period allowed by law.
