? <br />? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-141 <br />BY: MAYOR NORMAN MUSIAL <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED TO ENTER INTO A MODIFIED AGREEMENT <br />WITH MORTON INTERNATIONAL SALT COMPANY PROVIDING <br />THE CITY WITH 8000 TONS OF SALT FOR THE WINTER SEASON <br />OF 2001-2002, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />Whereas, this Council authorized the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for <br />the acquisition of salt for and on behalf of the City of North Olmsted by virtue of resolution number <br />?O0U - 6 [ ; and <br />Whereas, by virtue of the authorization under said resolution, the Director of Public <br />Service solicited bids and Morton Salt was awarded the contract by the Board of Control for 8000 <br />tons of salt under a two-year contract at a price of $28.47 per ton; and <br />Whereas, Morton Salt has not agreed to provide additional salt for this year by virtue of <br />a two-year contract because the City of North Olmsted has already received 7200 tons of salt under <br />the previous two-year contract; and <br />Whereas, the cost on the open market of salt is in the neighborhood of $50.00 to $60.00 <br />per ton; and <br />Whereas, it is the opinion of the Director of Public Service, that even though the <br />proposed increase for 8000 tons of salt is to be increased by $5.00 per ton, that price is extremely <br />competitive considering the prices of salt at this time; and <br />Whereas, in order to resolve the current dispute so that the City can have salt available <br />for inclement weather the Mayor and Service Director have resolved the dispute by agreeing to have <br />the sale of the 800 tons delivered at the previous price of $28.47 per ton, and to have the balance of <br />the 8000 tons, namely 7200 tons, delivered at $33.47 per ton; and <br />Whereas, it is the desire of this Council to ratify and confirm the action of the Service <br />Director and Mayor in reaching an agreement for the future delivery of salt as hereinbefore stated. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT 1'HIS COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OffiO:
