EXHiBfT 8-16 <br />JaB CLASSIFlCATION <br />OPERATIONS LABORER <br />RESPQNSIBLE TO SUPERIIVTENDENT <br />W.W.T.F. <br />R4ATURE QF 1NORK. <br />This is manual fabor in the performance of serni-skilfed and (imited ski(led work of a physical nature. The <br />work involves psrforming manuai fabor of a semi-skilled nature, which requires (imited speciai previous <br />training or experience. Afthough the work is usually perFormed under the immediate direcfion of an <br />employee or a higher rank, and instructions are received af the beginning of each new job, c.onstant <br />supervision is not always available for routine repefitive tasks which can be carried out without difficulty <br />once learned. Upon receiving work instrucfions, the empfoyee shall perform the job task with very iimited <br />direction and supervision. <br />This is routine, ski(led and semi-skilled work, assisting in shift operations af the Wastewater treatment p}ant, <br />pumping equipment and faciiities at the municipal wasfewater treatment plant and pumping stations. <br />;rk invalves responsibifity for roufine and emergency operatron, servicing, and cieaning buitc#ings and <br />Irounds, as weli as a variety or specialized equiprrteni and apparafus in a pumping stafion anci wastewater <br />treatment plant. Duties include the opera#ion of pumps, motors and the reading and recording of appropriate <br />meters and gauges at regu(ar(y scheduled intervals, on and around pump stations and the treatment plant. <br />lncumbents are required to become thoroughly trained on assigned equipment under normal and <br />emergency situations. Work is performed underthe general supervision or'the Assistant Superintendent - <br />P}ant Operafions, and is reviewed fhrough inspeciion of pfant racords, equipment and faci(ifies, and <br />observation and tests of plant efficiencies and effectiveness. <br />Removes scum from primary tanks, draws siudge and pumps into sludge halding fanks; wash down tanks; <br />perForm faboratory tesfs as directed; rrain'tains monitoring watch ov4r operation duririg shift and assisis in <br />the maintenance of shift operafion reports. <br />Assists other operators and maintenance personnel in switching pumps, transferring sfudge; charging <br />chemical hoppers and mixing chambers; cleaning and maintaining plant equiprnent and faci(ities and other <br />job duties as assigned, _ <br />This classificafion is subject to 24- hour ca(1 during emergency situafions. <br />69
