LEAD MAINTENANCE 1ViECgIANIC <br />3.2ESPONSISLE TO: MAINTENANCE GENERAL FOREMAN <br />NATURE OF WORK <br />Employees within this job classification are required to he skilled in <br />construction, maintenance, service, repair of inechanical equipment and overhaul <br />equipment related to wastewater processes and Iift sta.tion equipment. <br />Employees within the job classification Lead Mechanic must have a <br />thorough knowledge of all equipment. Wark involves a variety of repair and <br />maintenance taslcs in maintaining efficien.t and affective operation of pumping stations, <br />wastewater treatment plant, related appurtenances and facilities. Must have skill in a <br />variety of bench, hand and machine tools requiring accuracy and precision. Assignments <br />are made to speci_fic jobs and generally include sketches, blueprints, oral or written <br />instructions. Supervision may be exercised over all mechanics and mechanic helpers in <br />proper repair procedures, welding, fabrications, machining procedures, specific <br />maintenance and repair activities. <br />° Employees within the job classification Lead Mechanic shall work in <br />cooperation with or under Iimited general supervision from the General Maintenance <br />Foreman. Employees within the job classification Lead Mechanicis responsible for <br />organization of his wark assigriments with instruction ava.ilable frozn the General <br />maintenance Foreman foz out of the ordinary situations and problems. <br />Employees within the job classification Lead Mechanic shail perform <br />other duties assigned, within the general character and slope of duties described above. <br />EXAMPLES OF WORK <br />Operates machine and hand tools in repa.iring defective parts of pumps, <br />motors, valves, chemical feeders and related mechanical equipment and recording <br />devices of wastewater pumping stations and treatment plant. <br />Replaces defective elements, Iubricates bearings; re-packs valves and <br />pumps, replaces defective valves, motors, pumps and controls, etc. <br />Performed skilled machine work, precision welding, steam-fitting, <br />plumbing and boiler repair, repairs chemical feeders, chlorine machines and heating, <br />circulating an:d other pumps, repa.irs water and steam drain lines, assists in the installation <br />of new and repairing of old steam, a.ir, water and chemical Iines. <br />May be. assigned ta operate the pumping stations, and treatment plant on <br />assigned shift for emergency situations.
