CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2001-109 <br />BY: COUNCIL MEMBER GEORGE NASHAR <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1163. 02, 1163.10, AND 1163.15 OF <br />CHAPTER 1163 (SIGNS) OF THE ZONING CODE SO AS TO CLARIFY THE <br />DEFINITION OF THE WORD "SIGN"AS USED IN CHAPTER 1163, AND FURTHER <br />TO PROVIDE FOR THE REMOVAL OF ABANDONED SIGNS, AND <br />NONCONFORMING SIGNS THE IISE OF WHICH HAS BEEN VOLUNTARILY <br />DISCONTINUED, IN A MANNER WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH THE <br />REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 713.15 OF THE OHIO REVISED CODE. <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 1163 of the Zoning Code provides for the regulation of signage on <br />private property located in the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Law Department has recommended that an amendment to the definition <br />of the word "sign" as employed in Chapter 1163 be enacted in order to clarify that poles are part of <br />"pole signs;" and <br />WHEREAS, the City Law Department has further recommended that the provisions of <br />Sections 1163.10 and 1163.15, regulating nonconforming signs the use of which has been <br />discontinued, and abandoned signs, be amended so s to increase the time periods therein from 30 days <br />and 90 days, respectively, to six months, in order to be consistent with Section 713.15 of the Ohio <br />Revised Code; and <br />N'HEREAS, the Planning Commission on the ? day of 2001, by <br />formal motion, recommended that this Ordinance, amending Sections 1163. 1, 1163.10 and 1163.15 <br />of the Zoning Code be (approved)(disapprovvA); <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 1163.01 of the Zoning Code, entitled `Definitions," which <br />presently read as follows: <br />"1163.02 DEFINITIONS. <br />As used in this chapter unless the context otherwise indicates: <br />(a) "Sign" shall mean any writing, pictorial representation, illustration, emblem, symbol, design, or <br />other figure of similar character that is a structure or a part thereof, or is attached to or in any
