ARTICLE I PURPOSE <br />Sectian 1. This Agreement is made between the City of North Olmsted, hereinafter <br />refierred to as the "City', and Ohio Council8 and Local No. 2681 of the American Federation of <br />State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, hereinafter referred fio as the "Union". The <br />male pronoun ar adjective used herein refers to the female a(so unless otherwise indicated. The <br />term "empfoyee" or "employees" where used herein refers to all emp(oyees in the bargaining <br />unit. The purpose of this Agreement is to pravide a fair and responsible mefhod of enabling <br />empfoyees covered by the Gontract to participate through Union representation in the <br />establishment of terms and conditions and of their employment, including rates of pay, wages, <br />hours and working conditions; and to establish a peaceful procedure for the resolution of all <br />differences between the parties. <br />ARTICLE 2- RECOGNITION <br />Section 1. The Union is recognized as the sofe and exclusive representative for a <br />bargaining unit of all clerical and technical employees of the City of North Olmsted in the <br />ciassifications contained in Appendix B, with respect to wages, hours and other terms and <br />coriditions of employment, but excluding all confidential employees, ail members of the poiice <br />and fire departments, management level employees and supervisors as defined in the Act, and <br />all employees currentiy represented by an employee organization. <br />ARTICLE 3 - NON-DISCRIMfNATiON <br />Section 1. Both the City and the Union recognize their respective responsibif ities under <br />the federal and state civil rights law, fair employment practice acts and other similar <br />constitutional and statutory requirements. Therefore, both, fhe City and the Union hereby <br />reafFirm #heir commitments, legal and moral, not to discrirninate in any mannec relating to <br />employment on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, sex, age, handicap or any other <br />invidious reason. <br />4
