JOB DESCRIPTION; <br />POSITION TITLE: <br />RECEPTIONIST/PBX OPERATOR <br />RESPONSIBLE T0: <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <br />High School graduate or equivalent. <br />MAYOR'S SECRETARY <br />Knowledge of office terminology, procedure and equipment. <br />Some experience as a telephone switchboard operator. <br />DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; <br />Monitor, answer and screen all incoming calls. Transfer calis and messages to appropriate individuais, <br />departments or extensions. Answer questions from the public and provide information to caller. May act as a <br />reference or referral service to individuals calling for routine assisfance. Write and forward message to staff or <br />department to whom calls could not be forwarded. Greet visitors, schedule appointmenfs if required; perform <br />general clerical tasks such as typing, faxing, copy machine, mail machine, letter folding machine and perform <br />mail room duties as assigned, Perform other duties as assigned. <br />Good knowledge of and skill in the operation of a telephone switchboard; some knowledge of office <br />terminology, procedures and equipment; some knowledge of business arithmetic and English; a clear and <br />pleasing voice and manner of speaking; ability to understand and follow oral and writfen directions; ability to <br />establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees and the general public with tact and <br />courtesy. <br />KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br />Ability to meet and deal successfully with the public and other employees: Abilify to learn governmental <br />or departmental services offices and other routine information.
