CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-95 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />CHRISTOPHER ADAM WHITNEY <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout <br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the <br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishmerrt; and <br />WHEREAS, Christopher Adam Whitney, as a member of Boy Scout Troop 664 has served his fellow Scouts as a <br />Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Scribe, Senior Patrol Leader, Historian and Troop Guide; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, Christopher was an active camper who participated in numerous <br />weekend and summer camps including Averyhand, Beaumont, Custaloga Town, Laurel Caverns, Patterson Air Force Base, <br />Camporee and Tinnerman; and <br />WHEREAS, during his Scouting career, CHRISTOPHER has received two special awards, Arrow of Light and <br />Honorary Official of All Scouts Day and at his workplace was voted "Employee of the Morrth" in October, 2000; and <br />WHEREAS, CHRISTOPHER ADAM WHITNEY, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award, earned thirty Merit <br />Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, as his Eagle Scout Project, CHRISTOPHER and his fellow Scouts built a magazine rack, <br />bookshelves and a manipulation board for Mrs. Torkey's special needs class at Pine Elementary School; and <br />WHEREAS, while CHRISTOPHER was undertaking all these Scouting projects, he also participated in school <br />activities including French Club, school dances and sporting events, and he participated in community activities including <br />baseball, the Plain Dealer Teen Committee and St. Richard's Church Promise Youth Group; and <br />WHEREAS, Christopher enjoys writing and plans to attend Ohio University to major in Journalism; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by CHRISTOPHER ADAM WHITNEY is a noteworthy <br />accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />CHRISTOPHER ADAM WHITNEY on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />CHRISTOPHER ADAM WHITNEY. <br />Passed: > oa / <br />Atte f _ <br />/ Z atAc 6 1 ; <br />Barbara L.
