CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2001-82 <br />BY: THE ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL. <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO <br />THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OF <br />AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE XIV OF THE CFIARTER OF <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, ENTITLED "CHARTER <br />REVIEW COMMISSION," IN ORDER TO MAKE THE <br />DATE5 OF APPOINTMENT AND TIME LINES MORE <br />SPECIFIC, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of North Olmsted, County of <br />Cuyahoga, State of Ohio, two-thirds of all members concurring that: <br />SECTION 1. Pursuant to Article XVIII, Section 9 of the Ohio Constitution, and <br />Article XII of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, tlus Council authorizes and directs that the <br />following proposal to amend the Charter of the City of North Olmsted be submitted to the electors <br />of the City of North Olmsted at an election to be held at the usual places of voting in the City on <br />Tuesday, November 6, 2001: <br />That Article XIV of the Charter, entitled "Charter Review Commission," be amended <br />in order to make more specific the dates of appointment for members of the Charter Review <br />Commission and the time lines regarding Commission meetings and recommendations, and, as <br />amended, shall read in its entirety as follows: <br />ARTICLE XIV <br />CHARTER REVIEW CONIlVIISSION <br />On January 2, 2005, and each five (5) years thereafter, the Mayor sha11 appoint a Commission <br />of nine (9) qualified electors of the City, holding no other office or appointment in this City, as <br />members of the Charter Review Commission. The appointees to such Commission shall be approved <br />by Council within thirty (30) days. The first Charter Review Commission Meeting shall be held in <br />February of the same year. Such Commission shall review the City Charter, and within seven (7) <br />calendar months after such appointment, recommend to Council such alterations, revisions, and <br />amendments, if any, to this Charter as in its judgment are desirable. The Council shall forthwith <br />submit to the electars any proposed alterations, revisions or amendments of this Charter in the manner <br />provided in the Article Amendments to Charter. The members appointed to said Commission sha11 <br />serve without compensation. Meetings of the Charter Review Commission shall be open to the <br />public.
