1.0 PROJECT APPROACH
The project consists of evaluating the existing storm sewers for adequacy and condition.
The additional streets which have drainage tributary to the Columbia Road storm sewers
include Florence Avenue, Eleanor Drive, Evelyn Drive, and a section of Gessner Road.
Wade-Trim/Ohio, Inc. befieves at this time the existing drainage system should be
partially replaced. This is based on the following reasons:
1. The age of the existing system;
2. The sizes may be inadequate on Columbia Road;
3. Storm sewers do not exist in front of many properties and therefore do not allow
the properties to be tied into the storm drainage system as required by the City;
4. System condition based upon field meeting with the City's Storm Water
Superintendant; and
5. Future plans of the City in the area.
Wade-Trim/Ohio, fnc. design team will provide detailed plans and specifications for the
improvement and replacement of the storm drainage system. The preliminary plan
preparation will consist of an in-depth field survey to locate existing items. Ohio Utility
Protection Sefvice (OUPS) will be called in to locate the existing utilities on the site to
assist our crew in the location of the underground utilities. We will subcontract United
Survey to perform video taping of critical storm sewers (see attachment) which shall
determine the functionality of the sewers and how the project can incorporate these
sewers into a final cost effective design. We will also review United Survey's existing
information from the videotaping of the existing sewers. This will help us identify the
house connections so conflicts between the sanitary connection and proposed storm
system can be addressed in the plans. The original scope of work was for approximately
3200' of sewer. The scope of work has increased by 3900' of sewer plus video taping.
We have already perFormed preliminary engineering and hydraulic analysis of the project
area's topography to help determine the limits of this project.
The detail plan preparation will consist of cornplete stormwater calculations to locate
inlets, outlets, and appropriate size pipe. A review of reusing the roadway catchbasins
will be performed to save the City money and minimize the number of trenches across
roadways. The roadway, curb, aprons, sidewalk and treelawn will be detailed for
replacement where necessary due to the contractor's operation. We anticipate all work
will be within the existing right of way or along the existing storm sewer alignment if
performing construction outside of existing right of way. We anticipate the project being
sold and constructed in three phases.
2.0 SCHEDULE
Wade-Trim commits to meeting the following milestones:
Authorization to Proceed:
Field Work Completed:
Detail Design Completed:
City Review Completed:
Revisions Made and
Bid Packages Completed:
June 14, 2001
June 29, 2001
August 10, 2001
August 25, 2001
September 1, 2001
? ?..
N
4 ?i.
