CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-72 <br />BY: COUNCIL MEMBER KASLER, MAYOR MUSIAL AND THE ENTIRE COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING NORTH OLMSTED PATROL OFFICER JACK <br />BUTCHER FOR HIS ACTIONS RESULTING IN THE LARGEST COCAINE <br />SEIZURE IN THE HISTORY OF THE NORTH OLMSTED POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, on May 11, 2001, North Olmsted Patrol Officer Jack Butcher was working a <br />STOP detail when he stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation on I-480 near Butternut Ridge <br />Road, in the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer Butcher discovered that the driver of the vehicle was driving under a <br />suspended license; and <br />WHEREAS, while conducting an inventory search of the vehicle prior to having it <br />towed, Officer Butcher discovered ten (10) kilograms of cocaine in the trunk of the vehicle; and <br />WHEREAS, these actions by Officer Butcher resulted in the largest cocaine seizure in <br />the history of the North Olmsted Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer Jack Butcher has consistently shown a great deal of enthusiasm and <br />energy in performing his traffic law enforcement duties and, in addition to the large seizure of <br />cocaine, made two felony drug trafficking arrests; and <br />WHEREAS, without Officer Butcher's intensive enforcement efforts, this large quantity <br />of drugs would have sailed through the City undetected; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council wishes to commend and specially recognize Officer Jack <br />Butcher for his law enforcement efforts which resulted in this large seizure of cocaine; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted hereby commends and <br />specially recognizes North Olmsted Patrol Officer Jack Butcher for his law enforcement efforts <br />on May 11, 2001, which resulted in the largest seizure of cocaine in the history of the North <br />Olmsted Police Department.
