CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 54 <br />By: Mayor Musial and All Members of Council. <br />A RESOLUTION DECLARING JUNE 14, 2001 TO BE FLAG <br />DAY IN NORTH OLMSTED AND RECOGIVIZING, AS PART OF THE <br />ANNUAL FLAG DAY ACTIVITIES, THE 22" NATIONAL PAUSE FOR THE <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. <br />WHEREAS, the Ninety-Ninth Congress of the United States, on June 20, 1985 , passed, and <br />then President Ronald Reagan subsequently signed, Public Law 99-54, recognizing the PAUSE FOR THE <br />PLEDGE OF THE ALLIANCE as part of the National Flag Day activities; and <br />WHEREAS, this is an invitation urging all Americans to participate on Flag Day, June 14, <br />2001 at 7:00 P.M. (EDT) and pause for the Pledge of Alliance; and <br />WHEREAS, the annual program held at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic <br />Shrine, features Units of the 2290 Maryland Air and Army National Guard, patriotic music and <br />entertainment, educational, historical information and concludes with fireworks by Zambelli to celebrate <br />Flag Day and Pause for the Pledge of Allegiance; and, <br />WHEREAS, many citizens of North Olmsted have served their nation and made the ultimate <br />sacrifice in defense of our freedoms, as members of the armed forces; and <br />WHEREAS this event is an opportunity for everyone in the City of North Olmsted to honor <br />and celebrate our Independence; and <br />WHEREAS, it is a goal of this event to see our nation's flag flying high atop all flagpoles <br />throughout the City ofNorth Olmsted on June 14, 2001; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor and this Council hereby resolve, declare and proclaim that June <br />14, 2001, shall be designated as "Flag Day in North Olmsted." All residents, business owners, and other <br />visitars to the City of North Olmsted are asked to join with us in gratitude for our freedoms and to honor <br />our country by pausing for and making the Pledge of Alliance on June 14, 2001, at 7:00 P.M. (EDT), and <br />by flying our nation's flag high atop every flagpole throughout the City of North Olmsted on this day. <br />SECTION NO. 2: That this Resolution shall become effective and be in force from and after <br />the earliest period allowed by law.
