CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-29 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIlZE COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />MATTHEW J. MYERS <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to <br />organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in <br />Scouting both the youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and <br />that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should <br />strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent <br />that he eams the rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, MATTHEW J. MYERS, as a member of Boy Scout Troop 630 has served his fellow <br />Scouts as a Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, Librarian, Chaplain Aide, Junior <br />Assistant Scoutmaster and was a member of 630 Venture Crew; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, MATTHEW was an active camper who participated <br />in numerous weekend and summer camps as well as the 1997 National Jamboree and a week-long <br />backpacking trip to Canada; and <br />WHEREAS, during his Scouting career, MATTHEW received the World Conservation Award <br />and was an Honorary Official during All Scouts Day and received the Ad Altari Dei and Pope Pius XII <br />Religious Emblems; and <br />WHEREAS, MATTHEW J. MYERS, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned thirty-two <br />Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, as his Eagle Scout Project, MATTHEW collected over 300 bags of paper products <br />and hygiene products for St. Brendan's Food Pantry and West Side Catholic Center; and <br />WHEREAS, while MATTHEW was undertaking all these Scouting projects, he also was a <br />member of his school bowling team, track team, cross country track team and ski club and volunteered at <br />the St. Ignatius Food Bank and participated in the North Olmsted Veteran's Day Ceremony; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by MATTHEW J. MYERS is a noteworthy <br />accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OffiO: <br />SECTION l: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest <br />congratulations to MATTHEW J. MYERS on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this <br />Resolution to MATTHEW J.
