CITY OF NORTH OLM,STED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-27 <br />BY: TIiE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION CONIlVIENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />MICHAEL A. KORT <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration recognize and reaff?irm their dedication to <br />organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in <br />Scouting, both the youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and <br />that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should <br />strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent <br />that he earns the rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, MICHAEL A. KORT, as a member of Boy Scout Troop 630 has served his fellow <br />Scouts as an Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Chaplain Aide, Den Chief, Assistant Senior Patrol <br />Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, Venture Crew President, Order of the Arrow <br />Lodge Secretary, Order of the Arrow Brotherhood Chairman, Order of the Arrow District Chief; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, MICHAEL was an active camper who participated <br />in numerous weekend and summer camps as well as the 1997 National Jamboree, two week-long <br />backpacking trips to Canada, Philmont Training Center (four times) and the National Order of the Arrow <br />Conference; and <br />WHEREAS, during his Scouting career, MICHAEL has received numerous special awards <br />including Arrow of Light, World Conservation Award, Honorary Official All Scouts Day, Signing <br />Interpreter Strip, Brotherhood - Order of the Arrow, OA Ceremonial Team, Crooked River Native <br />American Dance Team, Cub Scout Day Camp Junior Staff, Beaumont Summer Camp Staff and several <br />religious awards including Parvuli Dei Emblem, Ad Altari Dei Emblem, Pope Pius XII Emblem, and <br />Intemational Awareness Award; and <br />WHEREAS, MICHAEL A. KORT, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned thirty-three Merit <br />Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, MICHAEL'S Eagle Scout Project was the rebuilding of trails and planting grass at <br />Bradley Woods Park; and <br />WHEREAS, while MICHAEL was undertaking all these Scouting projects, he also was a <br />member of the NOHS Marching Band, Pep Band, Concert Band, Eagle's Nest Theater, Bowling Team, <br />Chess Club and Video Production (NTV), was a server at his church and participated in the Youth Group <br />and participated in various community activities including American Red Cross Instructor Aide and <br />Speaker's Bureau, N.O. Homecoming Committee, NORC Softball, and All Scouts Day Teen Committee; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by MICHAEL A. KORT is a noteworthy <br />accomplishment deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OffiO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest <br />congratulations to MICHAEL A. KORT on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this <br />Resolution to MICHAEL A.
