CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.97-97 <br />BY: CITY COUNCII. AND MAYOR BOYLE <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE REZONING OF PARCEL E <br />(LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF BROOKPARK ROAD <br />ACROSS FROM WAL-MART) FROM OFFICE USE TO RETAIL <br />USE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />Whereas, Parcel E was rezoned to office use in 1988 at the developer's request; <br />and <br />Whereas, the Master Plan of North Olmsted recommends Parcel E remain zoned <br />for office use or revert to a residential classification; and <br />Whereas, office use offers the greatest tax base with the least use of city services <br />and the least volume of traffic; and <br />Whereas, the rezoning request was turned down by Planning Commission as well <br />as City Council and is opposed by the Mayor; and <br />Whereas, the City of North Olmsted has 160 square feet of retail space for every <br />man, woman and child while the national average is 19 square feet; and <br />Whereas, there are approximately 40 vacant retail stores in the City of North <br />Olmsted; and <br />Whereas, the city wishes to have diversity in zoning and Parcel E is the only office <br />use zoned in North Olmsted <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of North Olmsted does hereby <br />formally give notice that it DOES NOT SUPPORT ISSUE 41. <br />.,~ ... a..... <br />.~ . <br />i <br />
