L <br />~, ~~-' <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.97-12 <br />BY: Councilman O'Grady and Councilman Limpert <br />A RESOLUTION CALLING UPON THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION AND THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY ENGINEER <br />TO MAINTAIN THE CURRENT SCHEDULE FOR THE CROCKER- <br />STEARNS EXTENSION DUE TO THE IlVIPORTANCE OF THIS <br />PROJECT FOR THE PEOPLE OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, there is not a major north-south connector between Interstate 480 <br />and Interstate 90 in the western portion of Cuyahoga County, and <br />WHEREAS, the lack of a major north-south connector between these Interstate <br />highways has created a significant hardship to the residents of North Olmsted due to the <br />increased traffic through residential areas. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Cuyahoga County <br />Engineer be contacted to emphasize the importance of this project for the health and <br />welfare of the citizens of North Olmsted as a means of reducing traffic in residential areas. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby directed to transmit a <br />certified copy of this resolution to Congressman Dennis Kucinich. <br />SECTION 3: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for <br />the further reason that it is necessary to bring to the attention of the Ohio Department of <br />Transportation the pressing need for this project, and provided that it receives the <br />affirmative vote oftwo-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />R <br />
