Resolution No. 98-145 <br />? <br />Page 2 <br />WHEREAS, HB 803 fails to take into consideration the different profiles of <br />cities, villages and towns and their ability to meet local needs. In addition, HB 803 <br />would dictate changes to current laws which were passed by duly elected officials to <br />provide for the needs of their residents, businesses and industries; and <br />WHEREAS, HB 803 would require the establishing of a State level board, as <br />well as a board and added supervision at the local level, adding both cost, redundancy <br />and bureaucracy. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE50LVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />Section 1: That the City of North Olmsted, by and through its Council, and for <br />the reasons set forth above, strongly opposes the passage of House Bi11803 currently <br />pending before the Ohio Legislature. <br />Section 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward copies of this <br />Resolution to our current House Representatives and Senators, as well as all others who <br />may impact or jeopardize our current municipal tax through passage of HB 803. <br />Section 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and to <br />assure that this Resolution be provided prior to any action taken by the Legislature of the <br />State of Ohio. This Resolution will take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor provided it receives an affirmative vote of two-thirds <br />of all members of Council. <br />Passed: <br />9 <br />Barbara L.
