EXHIBiT B- 9 CONTINUED OPERATOR <br />• Inspects and checks out grit equipment for proper operation; starts grit collectors; <br />removes grit and debris from girt hoppers. <br />• Removes scum from primary tanks, draws sludge and pumps into siudge holding <br />tanks; washes down tanks; performs laboratory tests as directed; maintains <br />monitoring watch over operation during shift, and assists in the maintenance of <br />shift operatian reports. <br />• Assists other operators and maintenance personnel in switching pumps, <br />transferring sludge; charging chemical hoppers and mixing chamber; cleaning <br />and maintaining plant equipment and facilities. <br />• Subject to 24- hour call during emergency situations. <br />• Performs related work as required. <br />DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS: <br />• Some knowledge of the specific operations, and service requirements o# the <br />major items of pump and treatment plant. <br />• Some knawledge of the fundamental processes involved in the pumping, <br />treatment, and disposal of wastewater. <br />• Ability to inspect operating mechanical and electrical equipment; to detect minor <br />flaws and defects in its operatian; and to effect appropriate remedial measures <br />when necessary. <br />• Ability to read rneters and charts accurately and to maintain routine records of <br />shift aperations. <br />• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. <br />• Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy. <br />• Ability to perform moderately heavy manual work. <br />• Abi(ity and willingness to use a variety of special safety devices; such as, <br />inhalators, safety belts, special gloves, and related safety equipment. <br /> <br />66 <br />
