ARTICLE 3 - NON DISCRIMINATION <br />Section 1. Both the City and the Union secognize their respective responsibifities under the <br />#ederal and state civil rights laws, fiair empfoyment practice acts and other similar constitutional and <br />statutory requirements. Therefore, both the City and the Union hereby reaffirm their commitments, <br />legal and morai, not to disaiminate in any manner relating to employment on the basis of race, color, <br />creed, national origin, sex, age, handicap/disability or any other invidious reason. <br />Section 2. The City recognizes the rights of all employees and applicants for employment to be <br />free to join the Union and participate in lawful, concerted Union activities. Therefore, the City agrees <br />ttiat there shall be no discrimination, interference, restraint, coercion, or reprisal by the City against <br />any employee or any applicant for employment because of Union membership or because of any <br />lawful activity in an official capacity on behalf of the Union. Tfie Union recognizes the right of all <br />employees and afl applicants for employment to be free to joiR or not to join the Union. <br />Section 3. All of the employees of the City within the bargaining unit shall receive equitable <br />; <br />treatment and share in any all benefits provided herein. <br />AkTiCLE 4 - CHECK-OFF/FAIRSHARE FEE <br />Section 1. The City shall dedUCt the initiation fee and regular monthly dues from the pay of <br />employees covered by this Agreement upon receipt from the Union o# individual written authorization <br />cards voluntarily eacecuted by an employee for that purpose and bearing his signature, provided that <br />any employee shatl have the right to revoke such authorization during any thirty (30) to forty-five (45) <br />day period prior ta the expiration of any collective bargaining agreement by g+ving written notice to <br />the union with proof of service <br />Section 2. Deductions under this Article 4 shall be made during the second pay period of each <br />month, but if an employee's pay for that period is insufficient to cover Uhion duqs, the City will make <br />ems:opeiu/afl-cio <br />98KNOLM.WPD <br />2 <br />
