<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 98-112 <br />BY: MAYOR NORMAN MUSIAL <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CREATING NEW SECTION 505.1 S OF CHAPTER SOS OF THE <br />GENERAL OFFENSES CODE ENTITLED "ANIMALS & FOWL, " IN ORDER TO <br />PROHIBIT THE KEEPING, MAINTAINING AND FEEDING OF WILD ANIMALS <br />WITHIN THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, <br />AS AMENDED. <br />WHERF.A.S, the keeping of certain wild animals, and the feeding of wild animals, by residents <br />constitutes a serious threat to the health and safety of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to criminalize the keeping, maintaining and <br />feeding of certain wild animals on private property; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTIONI: That there be and hereby is created new Section 505.15 of Chapter SOS of the <br />General Offenses Code. Said new section shall be entitled and in its entirety shall read as follows: <br />"505.15 KEEPING, MAINTAINING AND FEEDING OF WILD ANIMALS. <br />(a) Definition " Wild Animal" - Any living wild or potentially dangerous mammal, reptile, <br />fowl, or other animal species which is not naturally tame or gentle, but is of a wild nature or <br />disposition and not customarily domesticated, and which because of its characteristics may constitute <br />a danger to human life or property if it escaped from secure quarters. A wild animal shall include, <br />but not be limited to: <br />1. All poisonous snakes and constricting snakes exceeding 6 foot.. <br />2. Bears (Ursidae). <br />3. Cheetahs (Acinonyxjubatus). <br />4. Coyotes and coyotes-dog hybrids (Canids). <br />5. Hyenas (Hyaenides). <br />6. Jaguars (Panthera onca). <br />7. Leopards (Panthera pardus). <br />I
