a <br />r <br />CITY OF NORTFI OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 98- 85 <br />BY: MAYOR NORMAN MUSIAL <br />AN ORDINANCE CREATING NEW AND REVISED CHAPTER <br />1901 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO ENTITLED "FAIR HOUSING <br />CODE" PROVIDING FOR A FAIR HOUSING POLICY <br />CONSISTENT WITH THE GOALS OF 42 U. S. C. § 1981 (CIVIL <br />RIGHTS ACT) AND 42 U. S. C. § 3601 (FAIR HOUSING ACT) <br />AND OHIO REV. CODE ANN. § 4112.02 (H) (FAIR HOUSING <br />ACT) PROHIBTI7NG DISCRIMINATION IN ALL ASPECTS OF <br />THE SALE, RENTAL, AND OCCUPANCY OF DWELLINGS IN <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ON THE BASIS OF RACE, <br />COLOR, RELIGION, SEX, ANCESTRY, FAMILIAL STATUS, <br />AGE, SEX UAL ORIENTATION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, OR <br />HANDICAP; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council, on September 17, 1996, adopted Ordinance No. 96-154, which <br />provided for the creation of Chapter 1901 of the North Olmsted Codified Ordinances, entitled <br />"Fair Housing Code" ; and <br />WHEREAS, thereafter the Mayor's Office submitted a copy of said Ordinance No. 96-154 <br />to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the purpose of obtaining a ruling <br />that said legislation was substantially equivalent to Title VIII of the 1968 Civil Rights Act, as <br />amended; and <br />WHEREAS, the City was subsequently advised by the U.S. Department of Housing and <br />Urban Development that certain changes should be made to Sections 1901.03(C), (F), (I), (K), <br />and (M), 1901.05(F) and (H), 1901.07(A), (C), (D), (E), and (F), 1901.15, 1901.19, and <br />1901.21, of Ordinance No. 96-154; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to adopt a new Ordinance which creates a new and revised <br />Chapter 1901 of the Codified Ordinances, entitled "Fair Housing Code," which incorporates a11 <br />of the changes in Ordinance No. 96-154 as requested by the federal government; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />
