. ?, <br />JOINT CO OPERATION AGREEMENT <br />HALL DITCH IlMPROVEMENT <br />This Agreement is made this ,,? day of 7une, 1998, by and between the City of North <br />Olmsted (North Olmsted) and the Crty of Westlake (Westlake), for the joint improvement of the <br />Hall Ditch located within the City of Westlake. <br />WHEREAS, the Engineering Department of the City of North Olmsted has completed an <br />extensive study of storm water flooding problems in the Deerfield area of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, after consultation with the Engineering Department of the City of Westlake, <br />both North Olmsted and Westlake believe that it will be mutually advantageous for both cities to <br />unite their efforts to improve the drainage in said area by instailing new facilities designed to , <br />alleviate storm water backup in both cities; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of North Olmsted has been authorized to enter into <br />this cooperation agreement by the adoption of Ordinance No. 98-53, which is attached hereto. <br />In consideration of the foregoing, the parties hereto agree as follows: <br />1) That the City of Westlake shall be responsible for the engineering design and <br />construction of approximately 9251ineal feet of a dual sewer system, consisting of two 24 inch <br />PVC pipes. The existing system shall be removed. The aforesa.id dua124 inch pipes shall have a 4 <br />inch stone bedding with a 12 inch stone pipe top cover and a 6 inch pipe cover on the sides. <br />2) Existing headwalls are to be replaced with new dual opening headwalls, utilizing <br />existing footers if possible. Invert elevations.are to be determined by field measurements such <br />that new elevations match existing elevations or are lower. <br />3) Precast catch basins are to be used with a minimum spacing of 300 feet. <br />4) All inspection of the project shall be the responsibility of the City of Westlake. <br />Upon completion of the project, the Engineer from the City of Westlake shall certify in wtiting <br />that the project has been completed. The City of North Olmsted shall have the right to have an <br />inspector present during all phases of the project. Any engineering concerns observed by the <br />North Olmsted Inspector shall be expreased to the project supervisor for Westlake and addressed <br />in a manner sa.tisfactory to the City of Westlake. <br />5) The City of North Olmsted agrees to pay to the City of Westlake, a sum not to <br />exceed Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) upon receipt of the certification specified in <br />paragraph 5 hereof. The amount of actual charges to be paid by the City of North Olmsted shall <br />be on the following basis. <br />A. $11.97 per lineal foot for the cast of 24 inch pipe. <br />B. Actuai cost of fillings approximately $6,925.00. <br />
