22.2. The officer shall be informed of the nature of the investigation prior to any <br />questioning and shaIl be informed, to the extent known at the time, whether the <br />investigation is focused on the member for a potential charge. If the officer requests it, he <br />shall be given brief time prior to any questioning to locate and review any written <br />documents he possesses regarding the event(s) being investigated in arder ta fully prepaze <br />himself to accurately and completeiy respand to the questioning. An investigating officer <br />may accompany the member during his brief search and review of documents. The officer <br />shall have a reasonable time period in which to obfi.ain legal counsel or a representative of <br />the bazgaining unit. <br />22.3. If the officer about to be interrogated is under arrest, or is a suspect in a <br />criminai investigation and the answers which the officer is asked to make to interrogators, <br />and information derived from such answers, will be used in a criminal tria1, the officer <br />shall be completely infornied of all lus Constitutional Rights prior to the commencement <br />of any interrogation. <br />22.4. Any intenrogation, questioning or interviewing of an officer will be <br />conducted at hours reasonably related to his shift, preferably during Ius working hours. <br />Interrogation sessions shall be for reasonable periods of tune, and time shall be allowed <br />during such questioning for attendance to physical necessities. <br />22.5. Before an off'icer may be charged with insubordination or like offense for <br />refusing to answer questions or participate in an investigation, he shall be advised that <br />such conduct, if continued, may be made the basis for a charge, except no member sha11 <br />(32) <br />
