? <br />`,?...? <br />? <br />? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />B Y : <br />ORDINANCE 90-148 <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE (8) <br />EIGHT HAND HELD WALKIE-TALKIE UNITS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council adopted Ordinance #86-114 which established a <br />Law Enforcement Trust Fund, and Ordinance #88- 14 which established a <br />Drug Enforcement Trust Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, said Ordinance's provides that the Council, among other <br />things, may from time to time authorize the expenditure of funds for <br />purposes for which the Council deems appropriate; and <br />WHEREAS, upon advice from the Chief of Police to this Council, it <br />has been determined that the Walkie-Talkie Units are needed to assist in <br />police communication , and <br />WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds presently in the Law Enforcement <br />Trust Fund and Drug Enforcement Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Chief of <br />Police to purchase walkie-talkie units, in an amount not to exceed three <br />thousand five hundred ($3,500) from the Law Enforcement Fund and an <br />amount of three thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars ($3,750) from <br />the Drug Enforcement Fund; for a total of seven thousand two hundred and <br />fifty dollars ($7,250). <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION1: That the Chief of Police be and he is hereby authorized <br />to purchase eight (8) walkie - talkie units to be used for Police <br />Department Communications, which purchase shall not exceed $7,250. <br />SECTION-_2: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the <br />public health, safety and welfare, and further provided it is immediately <br />necessary to upgrade the police communication system, and further <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />ES T?
