R . <br />? <br />BY: JANET SARINGER <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 90- 93 <br />? <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 367 PRESENTLY <br />PENDING IN THE OHIO SENATE WfiICH PROHIBITS THE SALE OF <br />ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT GAS STATIONS AND OTHER RETAIL <br />ESTABLISHIMENTS THAT SELL GASOLINE, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, there is presently pending in the Ohio State Senate, Senate <br />Bill 367, which, among other things, provides for the prohibition of issu- <br />ing liquor licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages at establishments <br />that dispense gasoline; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council is aware of the current alcohol and driving <br />epidemic that affects the citizens of the City of North Olmsted, as well as <br />the State of Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council believes that it is totally inconsistent to sell <br />alcoholic beverages at establishments that dispense gasoline; and <br />WHFI2EAS, this Council wishes to urge the legislature of the State of <br />Ohio to adopt Senate Bill 367 in the hopes that it will contribute to the <br />lessening of the alcohol driving epidemic that has hit the State of Ohio. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section l: That this Council does hereby lend its support to the <br />passage of Senate Bill 367 and urges the Ohio State Senate to adopt said <br />measure in hopes of curbing alcohol abuse with respect to a11 of the devas- <br />tating results that flow from the consumption of alcoholic beverages and <br />driving of motor vehicles. <br />Section 2: That the Clerk of Council be directed to send a certified <br />copy of this Resolution to State Senator Gary Suhadolnik, State Representa- <br />tive James Petro, and Governor Richard Celeste. <br />Section 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, <br />safety and welfare, and for the further reason it is immediately necessary <br />for this Council to show its support for this measure prior to an affirma- <br />tive vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take
