Page 15 <br />, 13.2 The procedure for selecting vacation time shall remain <br />as in effect as of the date of this Agreement, however, <br />if extenuating circumstances arise the Employee involved <br />may request the Fire Chief or his designee to approve <br />such request out of sequence. <br />13.3 In the event of a disaster (as determined by the Fire <br />Chief) all vacations may be cancelled by the Fire Chief. <br />13.4 Employees shall be permitted to request that earned <br />vacation leave be accumulated. In no event shall the <br />Employee be permitted to accumulate vacation leave in <br />excess of two (2) times the amount earned in the prior year. <br />ARTICLE XIV <br />SICK LEAVE <br />14.1 Sick Leave shall be earned in accordance with the Ohio <br />State minimum requirements and accumulation shall be <br />unlimited. - <br />14.2 Employees shall receive twelve hours off with pay for each <br />six consecutive months of unused Sick Leave. Selection <br />of such time off shall be subject to the approval of the <br />Fire Chief or his designee. <br />14.3 An Employee shall be paid for unused, accumulated Sick <br />Leave at the time of disability, retirement or death. .. <br />Payment shall be based upon the Basic Hourly Rate of Pay <br />at the time of disability, retirement or death plus <br />Longevity and the amount shall be one-half of the unused <br />Sick Leave with a maximum payment of 700 hours'for 1990 <br />and 750 hours for 1991 and 800 hours for 1992. <br />14.4 Any Employee who transfers from one department within the <br />City of North Olmsted to another shall be credited with <br />the unused balance of Sick Leave accumulated. <br />14.5 The Fire Chief may require that the Employee furnish a <br />satisfactory affidavit explaining the use of Sick Leave. <br />ARTICLE XV <br />LEAVE OF ABSENCE <br />15.1 Employees shall be entitled to take a personal leave of <br />absence with the approval of the Fire Chief. Any leave <br />of absence for personal reasons shall not exceed a <br />ninety-day period. <br />15.2 An Employee who is on Sick Leave, and has exhausted all <br />accumulated Sick Leave, shall be entitled to a sickness <br />leave of absence which shall not exceed ninety days from <br />the date accumulated Sick Leave was exhausted. <br />15.3 To maintain any benefits normally paid by the Employer, <br />tne Employee on leave as in Article 15.1 or 15.2 shall pay <br />the cost of such benefits to the Finance Director on the <br />first day of the month for which the benefit payment <br />applies.
