Ordinance No. 92 - 133 Page 3 <br />b. Excessive discoloration such as, but not limited to, dye wastes <br />and vegetable tarining solutions. <br />c. Unusual biochemical oxygen demand, TSS, or chlorine requirements <br />in such quantities as to constitute a significant load cn the <br />sewage treatment works. <br />d. Unusual volume of flow or concentration of wastes constituting <br />"slugs" as defined in Section 911.03(81). <br />15. Waters or wastes containing substances which are not amena.ble to <br />treatment or reduction by the sewage treatment processes employed or <br />are amenable to treatment cmly to such degree that the sewage <br />treatment plant effluent cannot meet the requirements of other <br />agencies having jurisdiction over discharge to the receiving waters. <br />16. Any water or waste that for a duratian of fifteen minutes has a <br />concentration greater than three times that which is specified for <br />TSS and BOD under Section 911.14 and/or which is discharged <br />continuously at a rate exceeding 200 gallons per minute will be <br />unacceptable. <br />(d) If any waters or wastes are discharged or are proposed to be <br />discharged to the public sewers, which waters contain the substance <br />or possess the characteristics enumerated in subsection (c) Yereof, <br />and which in the judgement of the Service Director may have a <br />deleterious affect upon the sewage wrks, processes, equipment or <br />receiving waters, or which otherwise create a hazard to life or <br />constitute a public nuisance, the Service Director may: <br />1. Reject the wastes; <br />2. Require pretreatment to an acceptable condition in accordance <br />with guidelines adopted in the ordinance of this City for <br />discharge into the Fublic sewers; <br />3. Require control over quantities and rate of discharge; <br />and/or <br />4. Require payment to cover the added cost of handling and <br />treatment of the wastes not covered by existing taxes or sewer <br />charges Luzder the provisions of subsection (i) hereof. <br />If the Service Director permits the pretreatment or equalization <br />of waste flows, the design and installation of the plants and <br />equipment shall be subject to the requirements of all applicable <br />codes, ordinances and laws. <br />(e) All food establishments which ma.intain a kitchen or other <br />facilities for the preparation of food shall be required to have a <br />1,000 gallon grease trap (grease interceptor). Such grease trap <br />shall be installed at least ten feet from the 1uilding wherein the <br />food is prepared, and such grease trap shall be cleaned and <br />maintained to the satisfaction of the Service Director, evidence <br />of such cleanin,g to be exhibited to a member of the Service <br />Department upon request and further grease, oil and sand <br />interceptors shall be provided when, in the opinion of the Service <br />Director, they are necessary for the proper handling of liquid
