TIMOTHYMCCORMACK <br />AND CUYAHOGA COUNTY AUDITOR'S ADVISORY BOARD <br />TO URGE OHIO GOVERNOR GEORGE VOINOVICH, OHIO <br />HOUSE SPEAKER VERN RIFFE, PRESIDENT OF THE OHIO <br />SENATE STANLEY ARONOFF AND THE OHIO GENERAL <br />ASSEMBLY TO PROVIDE MEANINGFUL TAX RELIEF FOR <br />OHIO'S SENIOR AND DISABLED CITIZENS BY <br />SUPPORTING THE PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL 10 <br />SPONSORED BY REPRESENTATIVE RONALD J. SUSTER. <br />WHEREAS, County Auditor J. Timothy McCormack and the Cuyahoga County <br />Auditor's Senior Advisory Board have brought forward the plight of our senior citizens who aze <br />faced with ever increasing property taxes because of voted tax levies and required property <br />reappraisals; and <br />WHEREAS, the current Homestead Exemption income limit of $16,500 has not kept pace <br />with inflation; therefore, last year alone, Ohio's senior and disabled citizens lost $3.5 Million <br />in Homestead benefits; <br />WHEREAS, many Senior Citizens' current medical expenditures greatly exceed the <br />amount allowed by medicare and Medicaid; and <br />WHEREAS, Ohio's seniors and disabled citizens deserve meaningful tax relief by: (1) <br />raising the income limit for eligibility, (2) eliminating property taxes for those with limited <br />income, (3) freezing taxes to be increased because of required property reappraisals and voted <br />laws, (4) and allowances for major medical expenses. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CIT'Y OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1: That this Council urges Governor George Voinovich, Ohio House Speaker <br />Vern Riffe, Ohio Senate President Stanley Aronoff and the General Assembly to pass House Bill <br />10 so as to provide meaningful tax relief for Ohio's retired and disabled people. <br />Section 2: That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />cause the original hereof to be filed in the journal of this organization, and should cause a fully
