<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.92-51 <br />BY: Councilman James Leonard <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MAY 7, 1992 AS NATIONAL PRAYER <br />DAY. <br />WHEREAS, The National Day of Prayer is a tradition <br />proclaimed by the Continental Congress in 1775; and <br />WHEREAS, Legislation was unanimously ratified by both <br />Houses of Congress in 1988 setting aside the National Day of <br />Prayer for the first Thursday of every May; and <br />WHEREAS, Residents of North Olmsted will join <br />thousands of Americans in twenty minutes of silent prayer <br />for our nation during the annual National Day of Prayer on <br />May 7, 1992; and <br />WHEREAS, About 50 people from diverse religious <br />backgrounds will gather in front of the Old Town Hall from <br />12:20 to 12:40 p.m. to participate in this day of prayer; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, As residents and leaders in the City of North <br />Olmsted, we humbly acknowledge our dependence upon God for <br />wisdom, courage and power and upon the spiritual and moral support <br />of all people of this community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That it is the desire of this Council to <br />observe May 7, 1992 as the National Day of Prayer. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall take effect and <br />be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by <br />law. <br />PASSED: qa <br />ATTES- • <br />arbara Seman, C erk of Council <br />.7ames D.
