' a <br />e <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 96-88 <br />BY: MAYOR ED BOYLE <br />AN ORDINANCE RENEWING THE NON- <br />EXCLUSIVE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AND <br />CABLEVISION SYSTEMS CORPORATION, <br />GRANTING IT THE RIGHT TO CONSTRUCT, <br />OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A CABLE SYSTEM <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSMITTING, <br />RECEIVING, AMPLIFYING AND DISTRIBUTING <br />ANALOG AND DIGITAL, TELEVISION, RADIO, <br />DATA SIGNALS AND FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE <br />PERMITTED BY LAW BY THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLM5TED FOR A FIFTEEN (15) YEAR PERIOD, AS <br />AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, after a period of extensive negotiations between various city officials <br />and Cablevision Systems Corporation, this Council has reviewed the Franchise Renewal <br />Agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council, in reviewing the aforesaid Renewal Agreement, <br />believes that Cablevision Systems Corporation offers much needed competition in the area <br />of cable television; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council recognizes that with the advent of competition the users <br />of the system in the City of North Olmsted will benefit from the offer of more broadcast <br />stations, advanced technology and better overall service; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council believes that the proposed Franchise Renewal <br />Agreement should be accepted by the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby accept the Franchise Renewal <br />Agreement between the City of North Olmsted and Cablevision Systems Corporation, <br />thereby granting to it the non-exclusive Cable TV Franchise which is attached hereto and <br />made a part hereof and marked as Exhibit "A". Further, that the Mayor be and he is <br />hereby directed to execute said Agreement on behalf of the City of North Olmsted.
