CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 96- 61 <br />By: Mayor Edward Boyle <br />AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE EXISTING CABLEVISION <br />OF THE MIDWEST, INC. FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR A PERIOD FROM <br />APRIL 15, 1996 UNTIL MAY 15, 1996, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has been negotiating for over one year with <br />Cablevision of the Midwest, Inc. for an extension of the present franchise agreement providing <br />cable television service to North Olmsted residents; and <br />WHEREAS, both parties wish to continue the negotiation process; and <br />WHEREAS, the present franchise agreement is set to expire on April 15, 1996 and <br />Cablevision of the Midwest, Inc. has agreed to an extension of the present franchise agreement <br />until May 15, 1996, so as to continue the present negotiations beyond the impending expiration <br />deadline. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted agrees to extend the present cable television <br />franchise agreement with Cablevision of the Midwest, Inc. from April 15, 1996 until May 15, <br />1996, and that a11 terms and conditions included in the present franchise agreement shall remain <br />and be in force until no later than May 15, 1996. <br />SECTION 2: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that the City wishes to continue negotiations for a renewal of the present franchise <br />agreement while maintaining quality cable service, and provided that it receives the affirmative <br />vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon <br />its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED 4//ff ?o <br />BARBARA SEMA i?
