y <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 96-163 <br />BY: Council Members Nashar, Limpert, O'Grady <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CONTROL <br />FII,E OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED BY PROVIDING <br />FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TWO "20 MII.,E PER HOUR- <br />SCHOOL CROSSING" SIGNS, ONE ON THE NORTH AND ONE <br />ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF SWEETBRIAR DRIVE, AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, traffic in this designated area frequently exceeds 20 miles per hour; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, there currently exists a School Crosswalk on Sweetbriar Drive; and <br />WHEREAS, the area should be clearly defined as a 20 per mile hour School <br />Zone through the appropriate signage to prevent vehicles from traveling over 20 miles per <br />hour and to be enforceable; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to promote the safety of the children <br />in the area and crossing at this School Crosswalk; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 305 of the Traffic Code provides for the maintenance of the <br />Traffic Control File, which said file can be amended only by ordinance. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Police Department be and the same is hereby authorized <br />and directed to amend the Traffic Control File of the City of North Olmsted to indicate <br />thereon the installation of "20 Miles Per Hour, School Zone" signs on the North and <br />South sides of Sweetbriar Drive thereby prohibiting travel over 20 miles per hour, as <br />aforesaid. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to <br />cause said signs to be installed in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance.
