• <br />I . a • ? ,??. ,.?. <br />t <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 96-154 <br />BY: MAYOR ED BOYLE <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A NEW PART NINETEEN TO <br />THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, OHIO ENTITLED "FAIR HOUSING CODE" <br />PROVIDING FOR A FAIR HOUSING POLICY CONSISTENT <br />WITH THE GOALS OF 42 U. S. C. § 1981 (CIVIL RIGHTS AC7) <br />AND 42 U. S. C. § 3601 (FAIR HOUSING ACT) AND OHIO <br />REV. CODE ANN. § 4112.02 (H) (FAIR HOUSING ACT) <br />PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE <br />SALE, RENTAL, AND OCCUPANCY OF DWELLINGS IN THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ON THE BASIS OF RACE, <br />COLOR, RELIGION, SEX, ANCESTRY, FAMILIAL STATUS, <br />AGE, SEX UAL ORIENTATION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, OR <br />HANDICAP. <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress has adopted a national policy of providing, within <br />constitutional limits, for fair housing throughout the country; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council finds that discrimination because of race, religion, sex, ancestry, <br />disability, familial status, age, sexual orientation, or national origin, and unfair housing practices <br />violate such national policy and the personal dignity of individuals; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council further finds that the general welfare and economic stability of <br />the City benefit from such a fair housing policy; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council further finds that the residents of the City obtain substantial <br />social and professional benefits from living in a community where fair housing principles are <br />established; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council further finds that discriminatory acts and unfair housing practices <br />deprive and threaten further to deprive the City and its residents of the benefits of interreligious, <br />interracial, and intercultural associations; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council intends to further enhance and enforce fair housing policy and
