That an amen1ment be submi.tted to a vote of the qualified electors of the Czty of Idorth Olmsted at the general electiran to be held on November 81 1960, in the following form: "Shall Section 2 of .ELLrticle V of the City Charter be amended to read as follows: I Section 2: Director of Law The Director of Law shall be the hea.d of the Law Depart:nent of the City and shall be elected at the regul.ar zmzni.cipal election in the year 1961, and every second year thereafter, for the term of twa (2) years. His term shall begin and he shall assume office on the first day of Janua,xy nex-G• foLtowing such election. The Director of Law shall be empowered to designate such assistqa.ts as shall be authorized by and approved by Counci7.. N'o person shall act as Director of Law unl..ess he has been dtL1y adriitted to the Practice of Law in the State of Ohio. The Direct,or of Law shall have been engaged 3n the active practica of law continuausly for a periad of five years naxt preceding his appoint,ment. The Director of Zaw shall act as legal counsel and serve in such capaczty the Ma,yor, Council., adininistrative officers, depaxtments, and the commissians and boards of the City. As legal counsel and attorney, he shall represent the City in all proceedings in court or before any adtni.ni.strative body and in su.ch other matters and controversies as he is by resolution o-r ordinance directed to prosecute. He or an Assistant Director of Law shall act as Prosecuti.ng Attorney fox the City. He shall perform all other duties now or hereinafter imposed upon city solicitors by the laws of the State of Ohio unl.ess otherwise prova.ded by ordinance of the CounciZ asld sha11 perform such duties as Council and the 12ayor may impose upon him consistent with his office. In the absenoe Of the Director of Law for ary reason, the first assistant director of law shall perform all of the duties herein imposed upon the Director of Law.'" SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Counci7. be and he hereby is directed to certify a copy of this Ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in order that said 33oaxd of ELections may make the necessary axrangements for the subraissa.on of the foregoi.ng amendment to the electors of the City, as provlded by law, at the general election to be held on November 8., 1960. SECTION 3. That the Mayor be and he hereby is directed to eause notice of such election to be published as required by law. SECTION 4, That the Clerk of Council be and he hereby is directed -to maa.l a copy of the foregoing amendment not less than thirty days prior to the election of November 8, 19603 to each elector whose name appears on the registration books of the last regular municipal or general election.
