Further that when so <br />used i.n the residential developments, rnuch rnore rigid inspection be made of such i;ype <br />of pavement, and further that where the Engineer determines either that the sub-base <br />material does not lend itself to the use of' such concrete pavement or in the event <br />when inspection of the proposed use of said type of pavement reflects the failure <br />of the contractor, developer or supplier of the material to meet the specificationa, <br />then the city may require the installation of a seven inch reinforced concrete <br />pavement heretoFore required, <br />NC}W, THEREb'OHE, BE I`r URDAINED by the Council of the City of llcrth Ulmsted' <br />State of Ohio: <br />Seetion l: Th.a.t Subsection B of Section 6, Article III of Ordinance 2445, <br />enacted March 19, 1957, readirig as follows: <br />"(b) Street or streets shal3 be paved with rein-:`orced concrete pavement <br />or hot plant mixed asphaltic concrete pavement on a reinforced concrete base, c•rith <br />concrete curbs and curb drains. Pavement to h;tve a mini.mum width of twenty-iour <br />(24) feet between curbs. Concrete pavement or conerete base shall have a thicisness <br />of seven (7) inches oi' reinforced concrete. Hot plant mixed asnhaltic conerete when. <br />used sha11 have a minimum thickness ot" two (2) inches. <br />AlI of the ma.teria,ls and workma.nship sha.ll conform to the specia'ic ::;ions <br />of the City of North Olmsted and the State of ahio Highway Depaxtment." <br />be amended to read as follows: <br />(b) Residential s -ureets proposed for new subdivisions may be paved with <br />what is described as 8-6-8 concrete pavement with conerete curbs or stone curbs with <br />adequate curb drai.ns. The pavement to have a minimum width of twenty-four {24} feet- <br />between curbs. Sa,id concrete pavement of this type shall be permitted when in the <br />opinion of the City Engineer the sub--;;xade material af said proposed street in the <br />proposed subdivision would permit the use of such type of pavement without jeoparc'tizing <br />the life of said pavement. `v1hen this -type of pavement is installed, it shall be done <br />iai.th properly protected corners and with a concrete mix providing a flexural stren;;th <br />of 750 PSI and adequate joint spacing. When this type of pavement is ta be instal7.ed, <br />a rigid inspection sha.11 be given the F;radi.ng of the sub-base before any coneret;e <br />may be poured and the same meets luhe awogroval of the City 14i;;i.neer both as to the <br />adequacy and adherence to the grade lines required for such an installation and tha;t <br />the proposed sub-base ior said pavement is adaptable for the safe use of thzs type nf <br />concrete and shall also require additiflnal inspection, not now utilized with the <br />use of seven inch reiniorced concrete :pavement, na.mely, that there shall be an <br />inspection of the plant supplying the Gnaterial for each job and tests made of zi,one, <br />sand and cement to determi.ne that the proportions of mix in each truck load meet <br />inspection. Two inspectors shall be necessary an the job site during pourinFn ope???ttions, <br />one making tests of concrete and the other to supervise the pour. In the event the <br />City Engi.neer determines the sub-grade not suitable as a sub-base for 8-6-8 cancre¢ e <br />pavement in residential streets in suc:h proposed subdivision, that a minirmlm seven <br />iriCsh reinforced pavement shall be requ.ired or i.n the event developer, supplier of <br />material or contractor does not co-operate with i;he Engineer in permitting the pro1?E?x; <br />installation of 8-6-8 paveMentp that he: then be authorized to require the developer <br />to revert back to a seven inch reinforced concrete pavement. In the event sevezl iinch <br />reinforced concrete pavement is to be used in said subdivisions or in other strPets <br />determined by Council not 'uo be strictly resiaential in nature, that seven inch <br />reinforced concrete pavemant shall be installed and that all of the materials and <br />worknanship in such an installation co:nform to the req_uirements of the specificatauns <br />established by the 5tate of C3hio Hi;hway Department, iahich requirements uhis city by <br />this ordinance accepts and adopts as its minimum specifications for a seven inch <br />reinforced concrete pavemen.t.
