CITY OF NUiI'I'H OLTv7S2'ED <br />I `?.LSOI,ULION IZO. <br />By <br />1MQLUTI4N OF COUNCIL EXPFiESSTStG ITS t}PI'GSI'J'IQTd '1'0 `i'Hx; PRE}T'OSL'D <br />CONSTRIIC'lION UF A D014NTOWN SUBWAY I1V THE CITY QF CLL?'VI?LAIVD, A.ND <br />DECLAFtZl`7G .Ald K'IGIliCY. <br />IiHljT E , the Tlayor has raised the question :vrith Council as to Council' s <br />feeling relative to the construction of a dovmtown subway in the City of ClevelL-;n.d, <br />the cost of wY11CY1 is to be assessed county wide, and <br />WH E {' , after a discussion of the problem, Council determined that it was <br />unanimously against the construction of said subwa,y at the cost of the residents of <br />Cuyahoga County, as citizens of the City of North UlMSted, for example, would not <br />benefit thereby. <br />NOW, THEREI'URE, BE Il' RES4LVED by the Council of the City of North (ilmsi;ea, <br />State of Uhio: <br />Section ls Tha.t the Clerk of this Council be and is :hereby authorized land <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the I3oard of County <br />Coruni.ssioners of Cuya,h.oga County, Uhio, indicating the opposition of this city to <br />the proposed construction of a subway in the City of Cleveland along proposed Euc;lid <br />Avenue route from the Public Square easterly to approximately 14th Street, the cost <br />of which shall be borne county wide, as it is the opinion of this Council that the <br />citizens of the City of Ii'orth 0lmsted would not in an,y iaay benefit from said proposed <br />improveLlent yet would 'pe assessed a,n undetermined sum of money over an extended r)e--riod <br />of years for the cost oi said construction. <br />Section 2: That this resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency *,:.easuz•e, <br />necessary for the immediate preservation or the public peace, sas"ety und welfare, t-nd <br />such emergency exists by virtue of the necessity of promptly calling ta the atterition <br />of the Board of County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County, Qhio, the position of this <br />city on the propoaed construction of said subway,, as lDresently said iioard is conducting <br />hearings relative to the desirability of said improvement. <br />Section 3: ldherefore, this resolution shall ta,ke i=iediate ef'fect frera and <br />aftei- its passa?e, othert?:ise, at the ea-rliest pe^iod allo?red by law. <br />PASSED: f'??.--L / J - 9 j ;L <br />ATTF.STa _ • ? <br />L. 7. vhristman, Clerk of Council Ral .
