<br />WITMFA,S, Gouncil has determined it expedi3nt and necessary to increase the
<br />compensation of the nart-time secretary provided to assist the Solicitor of the
<br />City in view of the incroased amount of stenographic work requared by said office.

<br />Sec-tion l. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2621., enacted January 28, 1958,
<br />reading as follows:
<br />"Section 1: Tiiat the Solicitor be authorized to employ apa.rt-tirne sec_retary
<br />to assisti.n the typing of corres-aondence required by sa-id officos and in the
<br />preAaration of legislation. That the cor.monsation of the part-time secrotary
<br />assisting the Solicitor, sazall be One Hundred Dollars (3100.00) per month.tt
<br />be amended to read as i oll.ows :
<br />Section 1: Tnat the Solicitor be authorized to employ a part-time sacretarJ
<br />to assist in the typing of correspondenc8 required by said office., and in the
<br />preparation of legislation. That the comonsation of the part-time seeretar3T,
<br />assisting the Solicitor, shall bo, commencing September l. 1959, at the rate of
<br />Qne HUndred Twenty-Five Dol7.ars ($125.00) per rilonth from and after said date.
<br />Section 2. That Section 2 of Ordinance N0. 2621, and readi.ng as follows:
<br />'tSection 2: 2izat the qudi.tor be authorized and di.rected to pay -to tae part-
<br />tLme secretary errployed by the Solicitor, the sum of Ene Hundred Dollars ($100.CO)
<br />for the month of January, 1958., and the sum of Qne Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per
<br />month thereafter for the services of a part-time secretary employed by the Solicitor."

<br />Section 2: y_fiat the Auditor be authorized and dir_scted to pay to the par-t-
<br />time secretary enployed by the Solicitor.. the sum of One Hundred 'iwer.ty-Five Dollars
<br />($125.00) per mont*, commencing SeptQmber l. 1959, and eacli month thereafter the
<br />sum of On.e Hundred Twenty-r'ive Dallars ($125.00) per month.
<br />'?ection 3: W"erefore., chis Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergenc;r
<br />measure necessary for the peneral wel.fare of the Oity of I1ort:q Qlmsted and such
<br />emergency exi.sts by virtua of the necessity of adjusting the salary of the part-
<br />time secretary for the Solici-tor effective at once., which increase is as much as
<br />the Council can budget for the remainder of the year 1959, though appreciata.ve of
<br />the fact that said servi.ces reaLired as part-time secretarzT for the Solic?tor are
<br />much more t:une-consum:v.ng than sazd compensation reflacts.
<br />Section 4: yJherefore, this Ordinance s'zalZ take iimrediate effect from and
<br />a-rtor its passage, otherwise, at the earliest period allowed by law.
