CITY OF NORTH OLNfSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. ~7J1.~ <br />By ~• <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF OHIO DEPARTI~7LNT OF HIGHWAYS <br />TO RESURFACE COLUMBIA. ROAD, ALSO KNOWN AS STATE ROUTE 252, FROM <br />LORA.IN ROAD SOUTHERLY TO THE EXTREME SOUTHERLY LIMITS OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OL~iSTED, AND DECLARING AN EI~RGENCY. <br />WHEREAS the preser_t road surface of Columbia Road, also known as State <br />Route 252, southerly from Lorain Road to the southerly limits of the Gity of <br />North Olmsted is rapidly disintegrating and has many breaks, cracks, and leaks <br />in said surface of said roadway, making traffic thereon hazardous, and also <br />jeopardizing the present surface in that if not treated immediately, the entire <br />surface will be destroyed resulting in a very costly reconstruction, and <br />'SAS, several years ago when State Route 10 was clos®d due to the <br />installation of the overpass westerly of the city limits i.n Lorain County <br />necessitating the re-routing of traffics the State of Ohio then designated <br />Route 252 from Mastiek Road north to the northerly city limits of the City <br />of North Olmsted as temporary Route 10 and temporary Route 17, during which <br />time a great deal of heavy truck traffic used Columbia Road, or State Route <br />252, causing extensive road damages and which at the time of said re-routing <br />of temporary Route 17 and temporary Route 10 over Route 252, the Department <br />of Highways of the State of Ohio indicated that when traffic would be restored <br />over Route 10 and Route 17~ removing; said temporary routes from Route 252 <br />then the State of Ohio would resurface Columbia Roads also known as State Route <br />252, from Mastick Road northerly to Lorain Road. <br />NOW, THgREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY 7:'HE COUNCIL of the City of North Olmsted, <br />State of Rio <br />Section 1: That the Service Director of the City of North Olmsted <br />immediately forward an attested copy of this resolution to the State of <br />Ch.io Department of Highways, requesting the re-surfacing of State Route 252 <br />from Lorain Road southerly, to the southerly city limits, and for such other <br />work to be done thereon as determined by the State of Ohio Department of High- <br />ways. The Service Director is requested to report any action taken by the <br />State of Ohio Department of Highways on this request immediately to the Council <br />of the City of North Olmsted. <br />Section 2: Wherefore, this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare <br />of the City of North Olmsted and such emergency exists by virtue of the imansdiate <br />necessity of the re-surfacing of State Route 252, also known as Columbia Road <br />from Lorain Road southerly, to the southerly limits of the City of North O]xested, <br />as the present condition of the road on said highway is rapidly disintegrating <br />2nd unless immediately treated could result in its complete deterioration <br />necessitating the complete reconstruction of said roadway between said termini. <br />Section 3: therefore, Iris Resolution shall take immediate effect from <br />and after its passage, otherwise at t2ae earliesyt period allowed by la.w. <br />PASSED: (~~2.G 7' ~9 ~ <br />A`i~EST <br />7 <br />E.
