<br />WEIEREAS, the peddling, soliciting, canvassing or the hawking of merchandise,
<br />wares or articles of value for ia~ediate or future delivery, or the obtaining of
<br />orders or commitnoents for the purchase, barter or exchaege of goads,. wares,
<br />merchandise, foods books, periodicals or other articles of value or for the
<br />repair of goods wares, merchandise, boobs, or other articles of values is
<br />deemed to constitute a nuisances and to impair the safety health and welfare
<br />of the residents of the City of North ©lmsted, in tkgt said activities have
<br />resulted is in~juries;to persons and damage to property, and
<br />WHffi~.~AS, said activities have further precipitated numerous 3~aaidents
<br />relative to the intr3.sagasant upoa the right, to the quiet sad peaoeab]s
<br />en~tr~-a~ent of private property, and i"en~ttier~ have resulted oa occasion} in
<br />fraud, deceit, and misrepresentation being precipitated upon residents of
<br />the City of North G]a~sted, and
<br />WHII3EAS, it is deemed necessary to more adequately regulate and control
<br />$uch activities for the general maintenance of the peace, health, safety and
<br />welfare of the residents of this City.

<br />Section 1. That €7rdinance No. 886, enacted May 1, 1951, be, atad the same
<br />is here repealed.
<br />Sectioa 2. ~ tionss Solicitor, Canvasser, Peddler or Hawlcer~ shall
<br />be clees~e o e axe' person io sells or offers for eels within the City of
<br />North ()]meted, a~q goods or chattels of any kind, nature or desucription by
<br />going from house to house or from place to place through the streets of the
<br />City of North Qlmsted with such goods or chattels, on his person or in his
<br />possession or under his control, or who sells by subscription or by taking
<br />orders for future delivery of goods or chattels of ar~y kind, nature or
<br />description. This definition shall not apply to or include minors under
<br />the age of 18 years.
<br />Section. No person, firm or corporation shall on ar~r public street,
<br />allay, drive, lar~~e, thoroughfare, court, highway, boulevard, or on the side-
<br />walks thereof, solicit the sale of an~r merchandise, wares, goods, foods,
<br />periodicals or other articles of value for present or future delivery.
<br />Section 4. The practice of going in or upon private property in the
<br />City o ort ]meted, by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants
<br />or transient vendors of merchandise, goods, wares, foods, books, periodicals
<br />or other articles of value, not having been invited to do so by the owrner or
<br />owners, occupant or occupants of said private property or residences for the
<br />purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of or repair of goods, wares, merchan-
<br />dise or other chattels of value for present or future delivery andfor disposing
<br />of andfor peddling or hawking of the same, is hereby declared to be a nuisance,
<br />and punishable as a misdemeanor.
