301.30 'TRAFFIC CODE 8 301.30 SIDEWALK. "Sidewalk" shall mean that portion of a street between the curb lines, or the lateral lines of a roadway, and the adjacent property lines, intended for the use of pedestrians. (Ord. 613. Passed 7-7-42.) 301.31 STATE ROUTE . "State route" shall mean every highway which is designated with an official State route number and s o marked . (Ord . 613. Passed 7 -7-42. ) 301.32 STOP (WHEN REQUTR.ED). "Stop" when required shall mean a complete cessation of movement. (Ord. 613. (Ord. 613. Passed 7-7-42. ) 301.33 STOP, STOPPING, OR STANDING (WHEN PROHIBITED). "Stop", "stopping", or "standing" when prohibited shall mean any stopping or standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with tho directiorus of a police officer or traffic control sign or signal. "Street" or "highway" shall mean the entire width between the boundary lines of every way open to the use of the public as a thoroughfare for purposes of vehicular travel. (Ord. 613. Passed 7-7-42. ) 301.35. THROUGH STREET OR HIGHWAY. "Through street or highway" shall mean every street or highway or portion thereof at the entrance to which vehicular traffic from intersecting streets and highways is required by Iaw to atop before entering or crossing the same except as provided in Section 313.02. 301.36 TRAFFIC . "Traffic" shall mean pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles and other devices, either singly or together, while using any street or highway for purposes of travel. (Ord. 613. "Traffic control devices" shall mean all signs, signals, markings, and devices placed or erected by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction, for the .pur- pose of regulating, warning, or guiding traffic, including signs denoting names of streets and highways . (Ord . 613. Passed 7 -7-42. ) 301.38 TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL. "Traffic control signal" shall mean any device, whether manually, electrically, or mechanically operated, by which traffic is alternately. directed to stop, to proceed, to change direction, or not to change direction.
