301.30 'TRAFFIC CODE 8 <br />301.30 SIDEWALK. <br />"Sidewalk" shall mean that portion of a street between the curb lines, or the lateral <br />lines of a roadway, and the adjacent property lines, intended for the use of pedestrians. <br />(Ord. 613. Passed 7-7-42.) <br />301.31 STATE ROUTE . <br />"State route" shall mean every highway which is designated with an official State <br />route number and s o marked . (Ord . 613. Passed 7 -7-42. ) <br />301.32 STOP (WHEN REQUTR.ED). <br />"Stop" when required shall mean a complete cessation of movement. (Ord. 613. <br />(Ord. 613. Passed 7-7-42. ) <br />301.33 STOP, STOPPING, OR STANDING (WHEN PROHIBITED). <br />"Stop", "stopping", or "standing" when prohibited shall mean any stopping or standing <br />of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other <br />traffic or in compliance with tho directiorus of a police officer or traffic control sign or <br />signal. Passed 7-7-42.) <br />301.34 STREET OR HIGHWAY. <br />"Street" or "highway" shall mean the entire width between the boundary lines of every <br />way open to the use of the public as a thoroughfare for purposes of vehicular travel. <br />(Ord. 613. THROUGH STREET OR HIGHWAY. <br />"Through street or highway" shall mean every street or highway or portion thereof <br />at the entrance to which vehicular traffic from intersecting streets and highways is <br />required by Iaw to atop before entering or crossing the same except as provided in <br />Section 313.02. <br />301.36 TRAFFIC . <br />"Traffic" shall mean pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles and other <br />devices, either singly or together, while using any street or highway for purposes of <br />travel. Passed 7-7-42.) <br />301.37 TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES. <br />"Traffic control devices" shall mean all signs, signals, markings, and devices <br />placed or erected by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction, for the .pur- <br />pose of regulating, warning, or guiding traffic, including signs denoting names of streets <br />and highways . Passed 7 -7-42. ) <br />301.38 TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL. <br />"Traffic control signal" shall mean any device, whether manually, electrically, or <br />mechanically operated, by which traffic is alternately. directed to stop, to proceed, to <br />change direction, or not to change direction.
