23 Operation Generally 331.15 <br />331.12 SIGNALS BEFORE CHANGING COURSE, TURNING OR STOPPING. <br />(a) No person shall turn a_ vehicle from a direct course upon a street until such <br />person has exercised due care to ascertain that the movement can be made with reasonable <br />safety to other users of the street, and then only after giving a clearly audible signal by <br />sounding the horn if any pedestrian may be affected by such movement, or after giving an <br />appropriate signal in the event any traffic may be affected by such movement. <br />(b) A signal of intention to turn right ar left shall be given to sufficient time in advance <br />of the movement indicated to give ample warning to other users of the street who would be <br />affected by such movement. <br />(c) No person shall stop or suddenly decrease the speed of a vehicle without first <br />giving an appropriate signal to the traffic immediately to the rear. <br />(d) Any stop or turn signal required by this section shall be given either by means of <br />the hand and arm, or by signal lights or a mechanical signal device that clear>vy indicate to <br />both approaching and following traffic intention to turn right or left, except that any motor <br />vehicle to use on a street shall be equipped with, and the required signal shall be given by, <br />signal lights or a mechanical signal device when the distance from the oenter of the top <br />of the steering poet to the left outside limit of the body, cab, or load of such motor vehicle <br />exceeds twenty-four inahea, yr when the distance from the center of the top of the steering <br />poet to the rear limit of the body or load thereof exceeds fourteen feet, whether a single <br />s vehicle or a combination of vehicles. (ORC 4511.39) <br />331.13 HAND AND ARM SIGNALS. <br />All signals required by this Traffic Code, when given by hand and arm shall be given <br />from the left side of the vehicle in the following manner, and such signals shall indicate <br />as follows: <br />(a) Left turn: Hand and arm extended horizontally; <br />(b) Right turn: Hand and arm extended upward; <br />(c) Stop decrease speed: Hamel and arm extended downward. <br />(ORC 4511.40; Ord. 613. Passed 7-7-42. ) <br />331.14 RIGHT OF WAY AT INTERSECTIONS. <br />The operator of a vehicle shall yield the right of way at an intersection of two or more <br />roads or streets which cross each other to a vehicle approaching from the right, except <br />as provided in Section 331.16. <br />At an intersection at which one or more roads or streets meets but does not cross the <br />ethers, the operator of a vehicle traveling on the dead-end road or street shall yield the <br />right of way to any vehicle traveling on the road or street which crosses the intersection, <br />unless otherwise directed by a traffic control device, or as provided in Section 331.1G. <br />(ORC 4511.41) <br />331.15 RIGHT OF WAY WITHIN AN INTERSECTION WHEN TURNING LEFT. <br />The operator of a vehicle within an intersection intending to turn to the left shall <br />`~~ ° yield the right of way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction. <br />(ORC 4511.42; Ord. 613.
