<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 of ORDINANCE N0. 718
<br />ENACTED MAY 20, 19h7, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE FIXING CURFEW
<br />HOURS FOR THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND DECLARING AN
<br />EMERGENCY.
<br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Safety has reported to Council and
<br />requested Council's eor~sideration to revise the curfew ordinance of this City,
<br />which review is occasioned by the change of circumstances and the needs to
<br />meet present day activities of minors, and for the better protection of minors
<br />and others, and
<br />WHEREAS, Council has given consideration to the requested changes
<br />and finds that said changes are more adaptable to activities of minors than
<br />under the previous curfew ordinance, and that the need for revision is pressing
<br />and urgent,
<br />N(J4J, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of North.
<br />Olmsted, State of Ohio:
<br />Section 1: That Section 1 of Ordinance No, 718 entitled "An Ordinance
<br />Fixing Curfew Hours for the Village of North Olmsted", which has since become a
<br />City, be amended to read as follows:
<br />'Section 1: Na person having the control and custody of~ or
<br />being the parent or guardian of a minor under the age of 16, shall per-
<br />'~ mit such minor to congregate, wander, loiter, or play upon the streets,
<br />sidewalks, public places, places of amusement and entertainment, or on
<br />unenclosed lands within the municipality between the hours of 11:00 F.M.
<br />and 5:00 A.M. the following day unless accompanied by a parent, guardian
<br />or a responsible person over 21 years of age or by a member of his fam-
<br />ily 18 years of age or older,
<br />No person having the control and custody of, or
<br />being the parent or guardian of, a minor 16 to 18 years of ages shall
<br />permit such minor to congregate, wander, loiter, or play upon the streets,
<br />sidewalks, public places, places of amusement and entertainment, or on
<br />unenclosed lands within the municipality between the hours of 12:00
<br />Midnight and 5:00 A,M. the following day unless accompanied by a parent,
<br />guardian, or a respor~ible person or a member of his family over 21
<br />years of age.
<br />This restriction shall not apply to minors on an
<br />emergency errand or on legitimate business such as the delivery of news
<br />papers or on legitimate business as directed by the parents guardians or
<br />custodian of said minors or by a person who has been given r®}~ponsibil:ity
<br />fair a minors control and custody by the ~ person who is legall;,r respons-
<br />ible for the control and discipline of said minor.
<br />In the event that any school, church, lodge, or other
<br />organization witl^.in the municipality sponsors a function which is attended
<br />by minors within the age limitations herein set forth and minors will be
<br />dismissed from said functions at an hour later than herein provideda such.
<br />school, church, +sdge, or other organization shall first obtain the Mayor ~ ;~
<br />approval to have minors remain to the time when entertainment or said
<br />function will end. Minors attending such functions or entertainment shall
<br />be required to be at horse and off the streets sidewalks, public places,
<br />places of amusement and entertai.nment~ or unenclosed lands within the
<br />municipality within 1 hour after said entertainment or function has ended.'
