CITY 0~' NORTH OLMST~D <br />By ~~ ~ • ~~l - j, <br />r' <br />orzDlNt~1c ~ Pro . 61 -~.~' j <br />AN ORDINA1VCi; ~'T~INING W11ItD BOtTNDi~I~ ~'Ti::R TI-~; F~~:~kr, <br />Cr~VSUS 0~' 1960, i;ND DECI,t'L~tING AN KG~fitCY <br />N' '''AS, on or about December !j, 1960, the Secretary of State <br />of Ohio, certified to th.e City of North Olmsted the population as <br />established by the 1960 Federal Census to be 16290, and <br />e~ i' , the President of Council referred this matter to Council <br />for determination of whether or not it would be practicable to re-district <br />the City in the four Wards or whether it was necessary to so re-district the <br />city in the four Wards based upon the certification of the population of the <br />said city, and <br />1a'H~:I~I?,~;5 , council upon due consideration has determined that it is <br />not necessary or practical to re-district said city into four wards as the <br />growth and population from the preceding Census of 1950, has been substantially <br />uniform throughout the four wards in said city, therefor concluding for all. <br />practical purposes, that said wards as already established, should remain the <br />same as heretofore established. <br />NOW, TH~r~'~FOR:~, BE IT ORD~INE}J by the Council of the City of North <br />0lmsted~ State of Ohios <br />Section 1: That the boundaries of the four wards heretofore <br />established by the Council of the City of North 0lmsted~ are hereby determined <br />to contain as nearly as practicable an equal number of inhabitants and therefore, <br />the boundaries of this city as heretofore established shall notbe changed as the <br />result of the certification by the Secretary of State of Ohio following the 196U <br />Census and that the wards heretofore established are equal in number to the members <br />of Council who are to be elected from wards according to law, and that existirlL~ <br />wards are so established as to now contain as nearly as practicable an ec~uai <br />number of inhabitants. <br />Section 2: ~~~herefore this t)rdinanee is hereby determined to be ~:,;n <br />emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the public peace and welfare <br />of the City and such emergency exists by virtue of the necessity of clarifying <br />Ward Boundaries at as early a date as possible, so as to permit the orderly c~rooess <br />of filing nominating petitions to public office for the Primary and Municipal <br />elections to be held in the year 1961, aIi for the preservation of the public <br />peace and welfare of the City of ~torth Olmsted. <br />Section 3: Wherefore, this Ordinance shall take effect from and <br />after its passage, otherwise, at the earliest period allowed bylaw. <br /> <br />.~li"~~T <br />,'~'~ <br />:-~'Lse Hall, Clerk of Council <br />yLPP:ROVLD <br />Paul J.
